From Motorola to Fairphone: 20 Years of Phones

While my friends were swapping phones every two years, I had the same Sony for twelve. Not out of necessity, not out of laziness — out of principle. Things should serve you, age alongside you, and go out with dignity. It’s a simple philosophy, but it takes some resolve to stick to — especially when everything around you is pushing the upgrade cycle. This is the story of four phones, a bit of philosophy on mindful consumption, and one question I find myself asking more and more often: do I actually need this?
